R2v3 Certification
The Responsible Recycling Standard (R2v3) is the leading certification for electronics recyclers worldwide. Adopted in July 2020 by Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI), R2v3 represents the latest evolution in responsible recycling standards.
R2v3 uses a modular framework with mandatory core standards plus specialty process requirements. This ensures that certified facilities like NEER maintain:
- Rigorous environmental management practices
- Data security and destruction protocols
- Worker health and safety standards
- Responsible downstream vendor management
- Legal and regulatory compliance
- Transparent tracking and documentation
R2v3 certification requires facilities to also maintain ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 certification, OR RIOS certification - which NEER proudly holds.
RIOS Certification
The Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS) is an integrated Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Management System designed specifically for recyclers, by recyclers.
Developed by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), RIOS is built on the Plan-Do-Check-Act model with a risk-based approach that addresses the unique operational challenges of the recycling industry.
RIOS certification demonstrates that NEER has implemented comprehensive management systems covering:
- Quality management and continuous improvement
- Environmental protection and sustainability
- Occupational health and safety
- Risk assessment and mitigation
- Employee training and competency
- Operational controls and emergency preparedness
